To continue to fulfill VRMC's mission statement to provide access to safe, high quality caring healthcare services for northeastern Minnesota, we are pleased to now offer ob/gyn services.

Dr. Leah Becicka, M.D., is part of Virginia Regional Medical Center's OB/Gyn Department.  Dr. Becicka's practice includes obstetrics, contraceptive management, infertility, management of menstrual problems / abnormal bleeding, menopause issues and general gynecology.

Clinic procedures include colposcopy, IUD insertion, sonohysterograms, hysterosalpingograms.  Surgical procedures include laparascopy, laparascopic supracervical hysterectomy, vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repairs, operative hysteroscopy, including placement of ESSURE, endometrial ablations, and LEEPS.

Meet The Staff

Dr. Leah Becicka, M.D.

Dr. Becicka has recently returned to the Iron Range after 12 years practicing OB/Gyn in the Twin Cities at Parkview OB/Gyn.  She is a 1984 graduate of Aurora Hoyt Lakes High School, a 1988 graduate of the University of Minnesota and 1993 graduate of Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland.  She completed her OB/Gyn residency at St. Paul Ramsey in 1997 and has been in practice since.  She is married with four boys and now lives in Virginia.

 

 

 

 

 

  

Dr. Scott Schultz, M.D. 

Dr. Schultz joined VRMC Obstetrics & Gynecology Services on September 30, 2009.  He received his medical degree at the University of Florida and completed his OB/GYN residency at the Universityof Alabama at Birmingham in 1991.  He joined the military and was stationed in Florida for three years.  After the military, he joined a practice in Key West, FLorida, and in 1999 he joined the Owatonna clinic in Owatonna, Minnesota.

 
  

  Laurie McDowell - LPN

Laurie McDowell, LPN / Child Passenger Safety Technician has been employed at Virginia Regional Medical Center for twenty eight years with twenty five of those in the Maternal Child Health Department.  Laurie has done numerous education programs for children and families including passenger safety programs.  Laurie resides in Eveleth with her spouse and daughters and is happy to be working in women's health again.
