Pediatric Surgical Tours About The Program Preparing for surgery can be a frightening time, especially for children who don't know what to expect. That is why Virginia Regional Medical Center is introducing the Pediatric Surgical Tour program. This program gives children and their parents a chance to visit the hospital prior to surgery. Children can become familiar with what will happen the day they arrive for their actual procedure. The goal of the program is to alleviate some of their anxieties and make them as comfortable as possible for their visit to VRMC A Special Invitation You and your child are invited to attend a special one-on-one orientation to the surgical services at the Virginia Regional Medical Center. The orientation will include a walk-through tour starting with your arrival to the hospital at the patient services desk and will include a tour of the Short Stay Unit and Pediatrics. The orientation will take about 45 minutes. Your child will be given an opportunity to look and touch some of the equipment often used during surgeries and hospital stays. It will offer a chance for your family and your child to prepare for surgery in a non-threatening manner. The staff of VRMC, along with your physician, encourage you to take advantage of this free service. It is our goal to provide the most positive experience for you and your child. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's health care. Your Appointment If you wish to set up an appointment prior to your child's surgical procedure, call the VRMC Surgery Department at (218) 749-9457. You may also call that number if you have any questions or concerns.
