Set For Life Program About our Program Regular exercise is an effective way to treat heart disease, Diabetes, and pulmonary disease. Exercise will also help people at risk prevent these health problems. The goal of the Supervised Exercise Therapy (SET) Program is to provide you with the opportunity to learn to use exercise to its greatest potential. Set Goals The goals of SET are to help you: Maintain a safe, confident level of exercise therapy. Improving your ability for day-to-day activities Manage your Health Risk Factors. Lower your risk of developing health problems. To assist you and your family in developing a healthy life style.
Who is Ready? Our program is designed for people who are working to take control of health risk factors and prevent more serious health problems. A 12-week Start-Up Program is available for those who have the following: - High Cholesterol
- High Blood Pressure
- Pre-Diabetes
- Weight Management
- Gastric Surgery
Our program is also designed for people who have previously attended Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, or Diabetes Programs and want to maintain regular exercise therapy. This Maintenance Program is for patients who have: - Cardiovascular Disease
- Diabetes - Types 1 and 2
- Asthma/COPD and other Lung Disease
Exercise Sessions Exercise Therapy can begin at any time after a Physician referral. All exercise programs are developed on an individual basis with a review of physical status and response to activity. Blood pressure, heart rate, and weight are monitored each day along with exercise progress. Each participant uses a variety of exercises in a group setting, progressing at the individual's own pace. Our Start-Up program will last for 12 weeks, while our Maintenance Program can last for as long as the participant desires. Education, Counseling, and Support Professional credentialed staff is available during all exercise sessions. Staff is trained in the treatment and prevention of chronic disease, as well as lifestyle change strategies to provide support, counseling and education. All educational activities can include family members. Staff The SET for Life Program operates under the direction of Medical Director, Dr. Jack Gordon. The staff of the program specializes in the treatment and prevention of chronic disease with credentials in exercise, physiology, nursing, respiratory therapy, nutrition, and Diabetes education. Financial Considerations Payment for the program is the individual's responsibility. However, individual insurance plans may cover the program. Our Start-up 12 week Program is $132.25 which includes an initial evaluation, a visit with a registered dietician, ongoing follow-up, and exercise sessions for the 12 weeks. Our Maintenance Program is $4.00 per exercise session. If you participate for 10 sessions in a month, you will have no further charges that month. Therefore, no more than $40.00 per month will be charged. The Program offers several exercise times:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Morning hours: 6:30 - 8:30 AM Afternoon hours: 1- 2:30 PM and 4 - 5:00 PM Tuesday and Thursday Morning hours: 9 - 11:30 AM Afternoon hours: 3 - 4:00 PM Facility and Location Virginia Regional Medical Center (VRMC) is located at 901 Ninth Street North, Virginia, Minnesota. SET is located on the second floor of the Medical Arts Building in room 217 (Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab Fitness Center). Participants may park on the west end of the campus and use the Medical Arts Building entrance (underneath the rounded white canopy). Take the elevator to the second floor and proceed down the right hallway.
