Many Activities To Choose From!

Making the transition to a nursing home doesn't mean your loved one has to leave behind an energetic life.

Virginia Convalescent Center opens the door to a whole new kind of long-term care.  Patients/residents are busy, challenged and active, just as they would be at home.  They shop at the mall and stroll through nearby Olcott Park.  We plan a full agenda of special outings, from fishing trips to trips to the casino.  VCC owns and operates its own 10-passenger Van that is wheelchair accessible.  Weekly van trips to area restaurants and other local attractions are offered to residents on a continuous basis.

Our Activities Department is made up of:

  • An Activity Director - Certified Recreation Therapist through the National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board
  • Activity Aides - Certified through the Natinal Council Certification Activity Professional Board

Life at VCC is full and active....as it should be.  We encourage patients/residents to live their lives to the fullest and we offer many activities for them to choose from.

  • Area church services on Sunday (Finnish church service - one time monthly)
  • Weekly Biblesharing services
  • 2 large screen televisions for the residents' viewing enjoyment
  • 2 bird aviaries for hours of enjoyment by the residents to see up close a variety of birds - their antics and behavior
  • Daily activities centered around the residents' interest (5 - 10 activity offerings on a daily basis)
  • Daily Newsletters bringing local/national news and weather to residents
  • Reality orientation boards
  • Evening programing - R.O.M.E.O. Club "Retired Old Men Eating Out"

Residents are always looking forward to Friday afternoon when area entertainment is offered.
