To: Families and Residents of Virginia Convalescent Center (VCC) One of our priorities continues to be the proper identification of personal laundry. We have made considerable progress, but will need your continuing cooperation in order to insure that clothing is handled properly. Our laundry Workgroup has recommended guidelines to be followed in marking personal clothing. Please read the following carefully and adhere to these procedures when bringing clothes into the facility. 1. Mark all clothing items before putting them into the wardrobe. 2. Mark the clothing with indelible marker in the area indicated on the attaches list. (Markers may be obtained from the staff.) 3. Print the name in CAPITAL LETTERS. 4. Do not put the name on clothing labels--these fall off. 5. All personal items need to be marked (toothbrush, hairbrush, shoes, belts, scarves, coats, T.V., etc) 6. Bring only washasble items (no woolens please) 7. Please limit bringing only seven outfits due to the closets having limited space. 8. After clothing is labeled with a permanent marker, the Launmdry Department will label all the clothing with an iron-on nametag. 9. If you choose to do your family member's laundry, it is recommended this be done at least twice a week. 10. Complaint forms re: clothing and laundry issues are available at both nurse stations. 11. Please sort seasonal clothing in order to keep closets uncluttered. Lost and unmarked items of clothing are kept in the third floor exam room, particularly socks and underwear. Please stop in and identify any items that may belong to you or your family member. Staff members will help you at your request. Thank you for helping us provide better service to you.
